French 75

My French obsession is still ever-growing. Binging all of Emily in Paris over the winter started something I didn’t know about myself. After learning to make coq au vin, cutting my hair into a French bob, and attempting to learn French on Duolingo.. I’m now expanding into a French 75 cocktail. It’s one that I’ve heard of a lot before and assumed it’d be as strong as a Manhattan which means I wouldn’t like it. But wow, I didn’t know how refreshing and zesty these are!

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz gin, such as Roots of Ruin

  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice

  • ¾ oz simple syrup

  • 2 oz Champagne

Directions

  1. Combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker.

  2. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 20 seconds.

  3. Strain cocktail into a large flute. Top with Champagne; garnish with lemon.
