Our Wedding Details

BEST. DAY. EVER.

I really have no idea where to start. Everything about our wedding was completely perfect and I couldn’t have imagined it going any better than it did. My mom and I we’re very hands-on with planning this special day and there was really so much that went to it. Dylan and I got engaged at the end of August 2018. So I had just a little over a year to plan everything. I got most of it done by the winter of 2018 (so I thought). All I had left to do was plan the little things and buy everything - but woah that was way more than I was expecting. Keep a look out because I plan to make a separate post about how I planned it all and things I wish I would have known beforehand.

OUR WEDDING VIDEO

I want to start off with showing you our wedding video. I am in awe of this video and it still gives me goosebumps each time I watch it. I am so glad we decided to hire a videographer. I can’t wait to show this to our children and grandchilden years down the road.

ATTIRE + ACCESSORIES

MY DRESS + SHOES

My dress is the Sinclair dress from BHLDN.
I had the most incredible time there in Chicago. I really can’t express how amazing the whole experience was. You can read more about that trip in this blog post.
I bought a pair of shoes from Madewell early in the year and then… I lost them. LOL So the week of the wedding, I went to Kohls and found a pair of camel boots last minute. *facepalm* Of course I found my original shoes a month later under the bed….

DYLAN’S ATTIRE

Dylan’s attire is pretty much all from Men’s Wearhouse - the linen shirt, the belt, the pants, and the shoes. We ordered the suspenders last minute from Amazon.
We went with a more laid back style because if you know Dylan; he only wears comfy khaki pants and plain t-shirts every. single. day. I wanted him to be comfy so this worked out perfect.

THE FLORALS

I got all of our flowers and greenery through Flowermoxie and DIY’d everything! It was seriously so much fun and I highly recommend doing this. It saved us a fortune and I had some quality time with my girls before the wedding day putting all of our bouquets together. About 7ish months before the wedding, I did a phone consultation with Flowermoxie where I showed my pinterest board and we went over colors and textures. They told me which flowers to get and how much and then built an order for me. Then they delivered all of the flowers to us the week of the wedding with a lot of guides for keeping them fresh and how to DIY it all!

GETTING READY ROBES

It was a last minute plan to get all of us robes and I am so glad I did. The photos turned out beautiful of us all and it was so fun - all getting ready in soft robes with prosecco pouring. I got these robes from SSweddings through Etsy. I highly recommend them!

BRIDAL PARTY ATTIRE

I wanted a cohesive look so I had the groomsmen wear the same thing as Dylan but we had them get everything from Target - they had perfect linen shirts and khaki pants!
If you can’t tell, my life bleeds oranges, browns, and tans. So I had my bridesmaids pick their own dresses in that color scheme. Once they found a dress, I had them send me photo and we used a collage to put them next to each other to check that the colors went well together. It turned out perfect!

OUR ALTER + CEREMONY

THE ALTER

The triangle alter was custom built by my father. I saw something similar on Pinterest and I had to recreate it! So we made it about 8 feet tall and added a gold border to it. The elements on the left side were borrowed items from my bestfriends! The table on the right side is our unity table and we chose to do an anniversary unity box. (More about that below!)

THE UNITY BOX

Our unity ceremony was an anniversary box.
Dylan and I occasionally do some woodworking together so we built this wooden box together in our garage with a few rusty tools - turned out way better than I was expecting!
We each picked a bottle of wine and placed it in the box. And then during our wedding ceremony, we took turns nailing the lid to the box. And on our one year anniversary, we’ll open the box and have the wine together. Then we’ll refill it, close it, and open it again on our 5th year.

THE EXIT TOSS

Another last minute decision! I realized I did want something for when we walked back during our processional. I ordered these dried jasmine flowers from HIBIMI, also on Etsy. I wanted to have custom labels so the Etsy seller was kind enough to send us prepacked toss flowers without any labels. Then I designed these ones and printed them on sticker paper! Simple enough.

THE RECEPTION

OUR HEAD TABLE

We opted for a sweetheart table (just the bride + groom, not the whole bridal party) and I definitely recommend doing this. The wedding day is so crazy and busy, you and your partner may not have any solo time, so getting to eat together alone was so awesome.
For the decor, we had a lot of help from family around the midwest searching thrift stores for gold candlestick holders. We ended up with roughly 70! So those and the lanterns were thrifted. The cheesecloth was ordered from Etsy. We got a lottt, so we used it on all of the guest tables as well. We had extra olive branches from Flowermoxie so those were used with the silverware.

THE FAVOR TABLE

Our hometown has an incredible place called Curtis Orchard. I have so many memories from there growing up from picking out pumpkins to their incredible apple donuts. So we included them in our wedding by giving out an apple donut to everyone. We bought these white boxes for the donuts and I made a sticker for each one. For the cloth sign, I bought plain canvas cloth from Hobby Lobby and used a bronze fabric paint for the lettering. I made a stencil using our silhouette cutter!

THE CIGAR BAR

Cigars are classy - at least we think so. We included a cigar bar and I wasn’t sure really how many people would partake but I was surprised to look around and see a lot of people casually puffing on one! I ordered a sample pack from Famous Smoke Shop along with that beautiful gold cutter. I found these personalized matchbooks on Etsy and it was a crowd favorite. Everyone took one to keep. The gold platters are from Hobby Lobby.

OUR CAKE + DESSERTS

One of the biggest lessons I learned… always make sure you appoint someone to bring you a piece of each dessert before anyone else gets any AND let people know that desserts are available after your cake-cutting… let’s just say that the only thing Dylan and I tasted was the one sliver of cake that we fed each other. The dessert table was completely empty when we went to cut our cake. But I take that as the desserts being really good! LOL.
All of our desserts and the cake were from Pollen and Pastry. She did such an incredible job and everything look so amazing. For the dessert signs, I used these frames.

OUR INVITES + VOWS

For the invites; I created the design through Illustrator and Photoshop. And we used Smartpress to print them. I’m a total fangirl of Smartpress now. We had them printed on white linen with a linen envelope as well. They turned out stunning.
And for our vows; I wanted them on a special paper because I planned to have them in a gold folding frame so I brought this rough edge paper on Etsy and printed our vows on it at home. It happened to rain a little during our first look so the ink ran a little bit but Dylan and I actually like that so they are currently framed in our hallway.

THE ICE SCULPTURE

My incredibly talented uncle Greg is an ice sculptor in Indiana. He made this 7ish foot sculpture for us! He made a tree with two racoons (one of my favorite animals) sitting inside and on the side of the tree has Dylan and I’s initials carved in it. It was definitely a fan favorite! We’re so thankful for this!
