Our Christmas Home

There’s truly nothing like decorating for Christmas.

Much like how fresh fallen snow makes the world feel new, so does decking out every corner of your house with new (but also old) things. I previously wrote about how we get our live Christmas tree on Black Friday as part of our Thanksgiving traditions. So once that’s in the house, everything else gets to moving.

We have maybe 6-7 totes of Christmas decor. And it grows every year. Granted, it’s only been a couple years since we’ve bought this house so I’m always searching for inventory when it comes to seasonal decor.

This year, I had my mom here to help decorate and that was a total game-changer. It was SO nice having her around as fresh eyes with so much decor that would have ended up in the same location as last year. It also helps that my mom is an incredible visual merchandiser.

So with that being said, our home this year feels way more “on-track”. Each room ended up with it’s own theme. The living room is more traditional/classic. The dining room is more rustic/mcm. And our kitchen is very kitschy and funky!

My dream came true..

For as long as I could remember, I’ve wanted the classic 1980’s c9 Christmas lights on the outside of my house. And that was enhanced after buying this house and having these roof peaks. It was just begging for lights. And this is the year it finally came true!! Thank you to my darling husband for risking his life for this silly dream LOL.

Also as a tip, we decided to screw in little hooks along the roofline and just stringing the lights on the hooks instead of the shingles. So next year we can just hook them up quickly! I was skeptical with the wind but we got some wild storms and nothing has come loose!
*edit to add: now that we had them up for a whole season, I can still attest that the hooks work and nothing came off once!
