HOUSE TOUR!!!

Well, it only took me 6 months..

We bought this house 6 months ago and it’s our first home!! We have already had such an amazing time doing minor updates and repairs around the house. So I’m finally here to do a full + complete home tour! Dylan and I are still definitely trying to “find our style” together - something definitely changed within me when we got this house. I completely had my style down to the “T” for the last few years. One of our previous apartments was featured on Apartment Therapy and as one commentor mentioned, my style was “boiled milk and oatmeal" and they weren’t lyin’.

But when we moved in to this house, everything that I had originally leaned towards just felt wrong and out of place. And the only thing that I can picture that I truly love now is “garden + botanical meets modern Victorian”….. does that even make sense? It doesn’t make sense to me either but something within me feels like I can make it happen and turn it into a completely new style. Now our home doesn’t necessarily reflect that mystical modern renaissance and yeah, there’s still ton of boiled milk everywhere but I think over-time, you might start to notice it.

Living Room —

This room is my happy place. The skylights in the vaulted ceilings make this room a sunny work of art from sunrise to sunset. Pretty soon after we moved in, I had the “need” to get a new rug, a new sofa and some extra plants + flowers to fill this space.

Master Bedroom —

This was the first room we tackled after moving in. The walls were originally baby blue and it was the nastiest feeling bedroom I’d ever seen. So within 24 hours of living there, I was already splattering white paint everywhere. It’s evolved a bit more since then as well, I decided to try out an IKEA hack on our bedframe and make it a custom fabric frame - you can see how I did that here.

Master Bathroom —

Dylan and I gasped when I toured this house and saw the size of this master bathroom. It’s the size of one of our old bedrooms back in the day. But there’s a twist… there isn’t one inch of natural light in this massive room. We recently painted all of the walls white and it brightened the room up so much. We plan to eventually completely gut and redo this entire bathroom but that’s just one day.

Dining Room —

This window is my favorite window in the summer. There’s these intriguing bushes that give me feelings of Japan when they’re covered in the summer. But this is our first ever dining room. We’ve been so excited to have a “formal” space during the holidays and when family visits.

The Kitchen —

Big news - we’re already over halfway in savings for our kitchen remodel!! We’re thinking our sledgehammers will be in-hand within a month or two and I am so giddy but nervous about it. So maybe I should have waited to show off this room until then but.. I’ve never been one for patience. So for now, here’s our hot mess of a nasty and terribly planned out kitchen.

Guest Bedroom —

I finally have a guest bedroom. I’ve wanted one since we moved to Memphis and it’s finally here. It’s pretty bare tbh but it’ll come together soon enough. I’m just so glad that my friends and family actually have something better than an air mattress now.

Guest Bathroom —

Our guest bathroom is super tiny but super bright (literally the ying to the yang of a master bathroom). This is another room that we plan to completely remodel and this one is a bit more in our budget so it may happen pretty soon after our kitchen.

That’s our home!

I tried to not make this incredibly lengthy but I’m not sure I succeeded on that. But I hope you loved browsing through our house! Don’t forget to give me a follow on instagram and you can watch alllll of the inevitable changes that will take place.
